For the first time in four years, Smokey has drawn blood from Bootsie. They must have been fighting upstairs, but I didn’t hear them. I only knew about it because Bootsie got in front of my monitor and stuck her butt in my face, and I saw blood dripping down her leg. Smokey kept chasing after Bootsie until I separated them. Smokey was hissing and threatening me as well. I’m afraid she might be sick or upset over something – that’s not normal behavior for her.

I called my mom to see if I should take Bootsie to the emergency clinic last night, but my mom said as long as she’s not limping or crying, she should be fine. I called the vet this morning, and the earliest appointment I can make for them is Wednesday afternoon . I currently have them separated, and Smokey was calmer this morning than last night.

I have no idea who the instigator was – Smokey normally is, but I wouldn’t put it past Bootsie either – she’s devious like that.
