Trying out Ecto
I’m trying out ecto for posting to my weblog. This seems pretty neat, but only shareware, not free, and way too much like Outlook 2003… We’ll see how this works.

For those of us who pre-ordered Tiger, it’s arrived (at least in NoVA)

This morning, tracking showed that it was at the FedEx facility, but not “out for delivery”, so I called FedEx and asked if I could come pick it up. They finally called me back about 2pm and said that yes, I could come pick it up. So I went
Nurm posted an imap authentication plugin for Wordpress. I’ll be looking at this when I attempt my next plugin – SSL/x509 authentication and authorization. Although I think it’ll have to wait until 1.5.1 (like a lot of things…)
I’ve finished two (related) books and one audio book since I last posted an update. Both physical books are part of the Dragonvarld series by Margaret Weis: Mistress of Dragons and The Dragon’s Son. The audio book was A Beautiful Mind by Sylvia Nasar.
Mistress of Dragons was on the clearance shelf at Barnes and Noble for $4.99 (hardback) – so I picked it up. I like Margaret Weis’ work, so I figured it would be an interesting read. I wasn’t terribly disappointed. It was a good story, but I didn’t feel like it was up to the standards of her previous books. I did like it enough to go find the next book: The Dragon’s Son and I’m currently looking for the third book (don’t know if it’s even written yet…).
The story is about dragons who try to keep out of the affairs of humans, but there are a few who insist on meddling. It’s got magic, fighting, romance – your typical fantasy novel
A Beautiful Mind, similar to the movie is the biography of John Forbes Nash, the discoverer of the Nash Equilibrium in Economics, and a paranoid schizophrenic. It is completely different from the movie, though. For anyone interested in his “real” life story, I suggest reading or listening to this book.

| You scored as Justice (Fairness). Your life is guided by the concept of Fair Justice: Everyone, yourself included, should be rewarded and punished according to the help or harm they cause.
“He who does not punish evil commands it to be done.” “Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace.” More info at Arocoun’s Wikipedia User Page…
