Maybe the word is getting out

The NYTimes has an article called Geeks Put the Unsavvy on Alert: Learn or Log Off. It’s a true article on the state of myself and many friends’ frustrations with “less-than-saavy” computer users (Lusers).

MyDoom requires you to freaking click on an attachment to start it. This is what – the 20th such virus to go around the ‘Net? Haven’t they learned by now?

Some ISPs and companies are blocking it at the mail servers, but some (like me), refuse to block anything, so all these messages are getting through.

I have to say though, my mother’s doing pretty good. I haven’t heard from her about anything funny going on on her computer. On the flip side of that, Comcast might be blocking MyDoom e-mails. I haven’t heard from my little brother either. And he’s more likely to click on something he shouldn’t (from past experience). Maybe he learned the last time I had to reload his system – I think I repeated it to him often enough. Now he just sends me an IM to ask me if it’s “ok”, and until he hears from me, he assumes it’s not OK.
